China Telecom is planning to build a massive Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network of 18mn connections across the country, according to reports in Xinhua News Agency.

The telco reportedly plans to be able to offer 70% of users in towns and cities speeds of at least 12 Mbps before the end of this year, and will eventually be able to offer speeds of up to 100 Mbps in key cities across the country.

The same source also reports that China Mobile has decided to increase its construction of fixed-line infrastructure and deploy 6mn lines this year.
